Bedside Monitor

When caring for loved ones or patients with special needs, ageing, cognitive or health impairments, night – time can be a time of extra concern.

Will your loved one be safe at night? What would happen if they needed assistance in the middle of the night? With Tunstall’s intuitive products, that concern can be drastically reduced.

One such product is The Bedside Monitor unit.

This unit is capable of detecting spasm induced bed movement, sounds associated with distress and bed vacation. Any distress condition is immediately communicated to either the carer’s pager, or by wired connection to a Nurse Call.

The pager can support up to 3 bedside monitors (or an extended pager is available for up to 32 clients). The bed movement sensor is well proven and one of the most sensitive on the market. It can assist with even small children exhibiting single limb spasms.

The Sound Sensing uses an optional external microphone, which can be easily adapted for a wide range of use. The system is designed to be sensitive to repetitive bursts of sound, as a client may exhibit during a seizure or severe distress, but to be insensitive to continuous background noise (for example from radios and TVs).
The bed occupancy detector can either alert the carer immediately the client gets out of bed, or it can be set to allow the client an acceptable period out of bed (for example for a bathroom visit) and will only sound the alarm if they fail to return.

For more complex applications, the Advanced Bed Monitor can provide the additional capabilities of monitoring breathing and detecting urination or vomit.
